A Resolution has been prepared to confirm the Mayor's appointments of individuals to serve on the Human Relations Commission, Park and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission and Senior Commission.

A recruitment process was initiated for the term expirations and existing vacancies on aforementioned commissions.  Interested parties were asked to submit applications to the City Clerk.  Councilmembers conducted interviews on February 15, 2022.

Board and commission members are appointed by the Mayor with approval of the City Council.  At the request of Mayor Dutra-Vernaci, a resolution has been prepared appointing/reappointing the following individuals:

Human Relations Commission

• Reappoint Ann Yap to a 4-year term expiring August 31, 2025
• Reappoint Shamsa Rafay Masood to a 4-year term expiring August 31, 2025
• Reappoint Kashmir Singh Shahi to a 4-year term expiring January 9, 2026
• Reappoint Michelle Wms-Smith to a 4-year term expiring January 14, 2026

Park and Recreation Commission

• Reappoint Chuck Kennedy to a 4-year term expiring January 9, 2026
• Appoint Amandeep Sandhu to a 4-year term expiring February 22, 2026

Planning Commission

• Reappoint Lee Guio to a 4-year term expiring January 9, 2026
• Reappoint JoAnn Lew to a 4-year term expiring January 9, 2026
• Appoint Seyi Mclelland to a 4-year term expiring February 22, 2026
• Appoint Ed Mack Agbuya as Alternate Commissioner to a 4-year term expiring February 22, 2026

Senior Commission

• Reappoint Thu Thai to a 4-year term expiring February 3, 2026

The City provides a stipend of $39 per meeting, up to $78 per month, for each meeting attended by Commissioner or Alternate Commissioner. Funds were appropriated with the adoption of the current budget to support the payment of meeting stipends.

Staff recommends City Council adopt the Resolution as submitted, appointing individuals to serve on the Human Relations Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission and Senior Commission.
